About this grant

The project goal is to develop community schools in Bulgaria as a mechanism for creating effective partnerships between communities and schools. To this end, the National Network for Children will provide technical assistance and funding to the 13 existing community schools; introduce the community school concept to 20 new communities; document and publicize the project achievements; and create a broad support base for the community school concept among schools, community organizations, and educational authorities. In addition, the grantee will support learning and exchange between the Bulgarian community school movement and movements in other countries in the Central and Eastern Europe region. During the past grant period, the grantee created and trained a project team with support from the International Centre of Excellence for Community Schools (Mott grantee). The grantee also introduced the concept of community schools in 13 schools and supported these schools to run more than 20 trainings for teachers and parents in their communities and organize over 60 community initiatives with the participation of over 600 teachers, 800 parents, and 3,000 students.
