About this grant
Development finance for integration of energy and infrastructure in South America is increasingly influenced by new actors, such as the Brazilian Development Bank and Chinese financiers, which have not adopted strong social and environmental safeguards, but instead rely on national standards. Meanwhile, the highest standards achieved at traditional international financial institutions are under review and may be eroded. This grant will support Asociacion Ambiente y Sociedad to analyze new financial strategies and actors in regional integration; monitor national, regional, and international development finance institutions; and work with network partners to advocate for stronger transparency and adherence to the highest standards.
