About this grant
This grant to the Flint Cultural Center Corporation will support a major upgrade to Longway Planetarium’s projection system. A state-of-the-art, full dome video projection system will be installed along with new seating and a new sound system. The new full dome video technology will enable Longway Planetarium to play an enhanced role in supporting science, technology, engineering, and math curriculum for both K-12 and higher education students. In addition to astronomy and star shows, full dome video allows for a much broader range of content to be projected, including science content such as biomedical, chemistry, earth science, engineering, and physics. This upgrade will expand the utilization of Longway Planetarium, create stronger partnerships with local schools and colleges, and better serve the residents of Flint and Genesee County.
