About this grant
The northwestern portion of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula is one of the fastest growing regions in the Midwest. In response to this swift growth, diverse stakeholders came together to launch the Grand Vision for the six-county region. The Michigan Land Use Institute, headquartered in Traverse City, is one of the organizations that spearheaded the community planning process from the beginning. The next three years are a vital time for the institute to help the region achieve the results imagined by the Grand Vision. This will include work to: promote local food buying programs; improve transit services and other transportation options; and expand the use of energy efficiency practices and renewable energy technologies. The grantee will also undertake measures to strengthen its own organizational capacity during the grant period.
