About this grant
This grant increase to the United Way of Genesee County will fund the Flint National Service Accelerator Initiative which began in 2011. Originally housed at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Flint, the initiative has leveraged more than $3 million in local and federal dollars to increase the number of national service members providing direct service and capacity building personnel to Flint area organizations. The Flint National Service Accelerator Initiative assists area groups with application preparation for national service programs, program implementation and reporting, and professional development for members. This grant provides funds for a civic engagement manager to carry out this work. The increase will provide additional member support including training, unanticipated costs for Operation AmeriCorps, resources for new national service projects, and evaluation work.
