About this grant
This renewal to the United Way of Genesee County will support the Flint National Service Accelerator Initiative which began as a pilot project at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint. The program is now embedded as part of the United Way continuum of volunteer and service opportunities. The initiative has leveraged more than $3 million in local, state, and federal resources to increase the number of national service members providing direct service and capacity building personnel to Flint area organizations. This grant provides funds for a civic engagement manager to implement the program which includes capacity building for local organizations seeking national service members, advising the Flint National Service Accelerator Fund housed at the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, and providing recruitment, training, and supervisory support to members and host sites.
