About this grant
Despite being home to a robust solar supply chain, Michigan accounts for just two-tenths of one percent of national solar deployment. A number of communities across the country have initiated solarization programs to accelerate solar energy use by homeowners and small businesses through competitive contractor selection, community outreach, bulk purchasing, and similar measures. The Institute for Energy Innovation will initiate such a program in Michigan, beginning with at least three communities in the Great Lakes Bay Region of Michigan that includes Bay, Isabella, Midland, and Saginaw counties. In addition to a significant increase in residential solar deployment, the result will be a replicable model for use in other communities across Michigan.
