About this grant
This grant provides general purpose support to the Crim Fitness Foundation. Focusing on active living, physical fitness, nutrition, and mindfulness, the grantee offers year-round programming for children and adults throughout the greater Flint area. Nutrition and active living are recognized as important strategies to mitigate the impact of lead exposure, which is important for Flint residents and children as a result of the Flint water crisis. The grantee also serves as the lead agency for the community schools strategy, which provides access to a variety of wrap-around health and educational services for Flint Community Schools’ students and families. The Crim Festival of Races attracts more than 14,000 walkers and runners as well as tens of thousands of spectators each year.
