About this grant
This grant will enable the Capital Region Community Foundation to support the work of the Michigan Community Service Commission, the state’s lead agency on service and volunteerism, which seeks to engage all Michigan residents in addressing critical community challenges through national service and volunteerism. To support the continued growth and celebration of service and volunteerism within the state, the Michigan Community Service Commission hosts an annual Governor’s Service Awards event. This event provides a platform to shine a spotlight on volunteerism and its impact on the state and annually touches more than 2,000 individuals and organizations through its nomination process. The grantee administers the proceeds from the event to support service initiatives.
