About this grant

The mission of the Environmental Leadership Program is to support visionary, action-oriented, and diverse leadership for a just and sustainable future. Environmental leaders face complex challenges—ones that cannot be met by organizations or sectors in isolation. The grantee has trained over 1,200 rising environmental and social change leaders since 2000. With renewed support from the Mott Foundation, the grantee will recruit two annual groups of up to 20 emerging leaders working on conservation issues in the Great Lakes region in 2020 and 2021. These cohorts will attend three multi-day retreats, develop personal leadership plans, establish strong peer support networks, and enhance their knowledge and leadership skills.
