About this grant
The Uthungulu Community Foundation was founded in 1999 to promote the development of communities in the Uthungulu district of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. It makes grants, provides training, and creates linkages between government, business, universities, and civil society in the region. Past support from Mott has enabled the grantee to make grants to nonprofits and community-based organizations, provide training on topics related to building institutions, and promote the community foundation field in the country and the southern Africa region. This grant will enable the grantee to continue to implement programs that support the communities it serves, strengthen partnerships with local businesses and government, and provide training and advisory services to civil society organizations. The grantee will also continue to partner with government to provide support services to organizations working in the most marginalized communities in KwaZulu-Natal.
