About this grant
The Wabash County Promise Initiative is a community wide initiative designed to help students build college-going identities and save money for college. As a component of the broader Wabash County Promise Initiative, Community Foundation of Wabash County will use Mott support to pilot an early distribution scholarship program. This pilot program will target students in the 4th, 6th, and 8th grades, and model the use of children’s savings accounts as a tool to incentivize and reward college planning, college savings, and achievement of the academic milestones shown to foster a college-going identity and lead to high school graduation and postsecondary success. This pilot will model how community foundations can support children’s savings account initiatives and demonstrate a promising alternative to traditional scholarships, managed by community foundations or other organizations.
