About this grant

The BRICS Policy Center is a think tank dedicated to studying the structural shift occurring in international development finance as Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa (BRICS countries) emerge as prominent global actors. Administered by the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, the Center developed a research program over the past project period to deepen international expertise and dialogue on social and environmental safeguards for development finance. During the current grant period, the Center will continue to research and analyze the role of new development finance actors and institutions, such as China and the BRICS New Development Bank, and build a knowledge database to monitor and publicize Chinese investment in Latin America and the implementation of social and environmental standards.
