About this grant

The Centro de Estudos Avançados de Promoção Social e Ambiental is a nonprofit founded in 1985 to promote sustainable community development and Amazon forest conservation by improving public policies and quality of life of children, youth, indigenous peoples, and minorities. The absence of sufficient energy access remains a significant barrier to community development and quality of life in low impact extractive reserves in the Amazon. The grantee’s Health and Happiness Project will work with forest communities in the Tapajos-Arapiuns Extractive Reserve to implement self-managed and sustainable rural solar power for both productive and social uses.
