About this grant

The program goal is to provide comprehensive support to internally displaced persons and others affected by conflict in Ukraine. Through a network of online and offline legal advice centers, Goreniye will provide primary and secondary legal assistance to displaced victims of conflict in four regions (Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhiye, Kharkov, and Ukraine-controlled Donetsk) bordering on the conflict zone that has received the bulk of such migrants. The grantee will provide training services for local officials to improve service delivery and integration practices related to target groups. They will also work to build the self-organizing capacity of these target groups. From 2016–2018, the grantee provided primary and secondary legal assistance to over 30,000 Ukrainians affected by conflict. They trained 240 lawyers from within the state legal aid system on issues related to conflict victims and initiated training of paralegals from within the ranks of its clients. Based in Dnipro, Goreniye was founded in 2005 to provide wide-ranging assistance to disadvantaged and marginalized groups throughout Ukraine.
