About this grant
Traverse City has emerged as a clean energy leader across the state of Michigan with the adoption by its city commissioners in December 2016 of a target of 100 percent renewable electricity for municipal operations by 2020, carbon neutrality (i.e., a net zero carbon footprint) by midcentury, and the formation of a stakeholder advisory Green Team. Even with this forward-thinking approach, local governments in the Traverse City area lack the capacity to fully implement clean energy solutions and take advantage of available programs and benefits. Renewal support will allow SEEDS to build on its strong technical background and established convener role to provide energy management services to the city and county governments, including the municipally owned utility, toward reaching established targets and goals.
