About this grant
This grant will support renovations to the Woolworth Building in downtown Flint. The facility will reopen as a new and expanded culinary arts program for Mott Community College. Built in 1920, the structure is an important undeveloped asset that, once restored, will enhance other efforts to revitalize downtown and eliminate blight. Mott Community College’s primary goal is to increase enrollment in its culinary arts program and prepare students for successful careers and promising futures. A secondary goal is to contribute to efforts that foster a healthy community. The Uptown Reinvestment Corporation will serve as the developer and will own the building for seven to eight years before transferring ownership to Mott Community College.
