About this grant
The program goal is to build and strengthen an enabling environment for philanthropy. Worldwide Initiatives for Grantmaker Support is a global network linking 100 philanthropic associations and support organizations from 40 countries through international exchange, information services, networking, and peer-to-peer learning opportunities. Together these members serve and represent close to 100,000 philanthropic entities worldwide, including foundations, corporations, individual philanthropists, and community foundations. During 2017-2018, the grantee published research related to philanthropy and philanthropy infrastructure; disseminated information and analysis about the sector through social media, blogs, and an online newsletter; held capacity building workshops and online webinars; and organized its flagship global event, the WINGSForum, in Mexico City. In 2019-2020, the grantee will continue implementing a new, five-year strategy adopted in 2018, which is focused on three areas: making the case for philanthropy development, fostering an enabling environment for philanthropy, and strengthening the philanthropy support ecosystem where it is needed the most. Established in 2000 and incorporated in the United States in 2010, the grantee is based in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
