About this grant
The C. S. Mott Nature Preserve is one of the largest privately owned nature preserves in Michigan. The Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy, a widely-respected land trust based in Traverse City, protected the property in 2003 when it was under development threat. Mott’s permanently restricted gift to endow the long-term stewardship of the property will guarantee that the preserve will be forever managed in an effective and responsible fashion. The stewardship funds will help cover the cost of resource management, property management, trail maintenance, infrastructure maintenance, and capital infrastructure replacement.
