About this grant

The Ukrainian Step by Step Foundation will work with the Ukrainian Ministry of Education at the latter’s invitation to assist in advancing school reforms aimed in part at increasing community engagement with schools in Ukraine. Specifically, the grantee will work with the ministry to adapt the Community School Quality Assessment Standards as the basis for broader institutional audits of schools across the Ukrainian education system. The standards, developed by the grantee and international partners over many years and used in over 600 schools in Ukraine to date, rely on significant participation of all school stakeholders to assess school performance, classroom attainment, and community relevance. This grant increase will allow the grantee to adapt the standards, train school administrators and regional educational officials, and conduct pilot institutional audits in 12 schools prior to wider rollout of the scheme.
