About this grant
Research indicates that the municipal financial system in Michigan is not providing adequate revenue to Michigan cities that allows local government to provide services at an acceptable level. The purpose of this project is to develop a comprehensive, evidence-based framework for determining the local fiscal outcomes of state policy choices. Michigan State University will develop a web-based application allowing users to see customized data and analysis and a policy brief outlining how to use it to make relevant policy recommendations. They will also develop an academic article and participate in media engagements to communicate the research to stakeholders and the general public.
