About this grant
This grant will provide support to the Genesee Chamber Foundation to fund an editorially independent online publication that covers the people and projects that are driving revitalization across the city of Flint. This work is especially important given the negative effects of the Flint water crisis that are still lingering and damaging the city’s reputation and potential economic growth. Through weekly features and news stories produced by professional local writers, photographers, and videographers, the publication will inform both local residents and outside audiences about Flint’s revitalization, and attract resources from investors and decisionmakers that can contribute to Flint’s ongoing economic development and job growth. The grantee has selected Issue Media Group, who will use a variety of methods to ensure that content created for the publication is widely disseminated, including use of e-mail and social media channels, and through partnerships with other media organizations.
