About this grant
The Social Change Assistance Trust works to improve the quality of life in poor communities by supporting community-based organizations working in those communities. The grantee was established in 1984 to make grants, provide training, and facilitate sector-wide connections for organizations that promote access to justice, gender equality, youth empowerment, and food security. Past support enabled the grantee to make grants totaling $230,000 to community advice offices and other local development agencies. In addition to providing institutional strengthening support, the grantee provided training on gender-based violence. This grant will continue to support the Social Change Assistance Trust’s work with community advice offices in the Western Cape, Northern Cape, and Eastern Cape provinces by providing funding and capacity development training.
