About this grant
The Salesian Missions have been providing education and technical training to poor children around the globe since 1947. Vocational training centers across Tanzania began to be established in 1980. Over the past two years, the grantee has expanded their vocational training to address the need for technical expertise in solar energy and entrepreneurial skills for young Tanzanians. The solar electric training program has graduated over 300 marginalized young people in its first two years and has established two modern solar electric laboratories and training facilities in two rural regions of Tanzania. Through this renewal grant, the Salesian Missions and the Tanzanian Don Bosco vocational training centers will expand the solar electrician training program with extra efforts to recruit more young women into the program as well as enhance entrepreneurial training modules for the program.
