About this grant
Only 17 percent of Tanzania’s rural population has access to electricity. To reach these rural areas requires a basket of energy solutions from grid extension, rooftop solar home systems, mini-grids, and standalone systems. Off-grid clean energy models have gained traction across Africa as a strong alternative in areas where traditional grid extension will have difficulty reaching poor households. There is a cadre of entrepreneurs creating new business models that need to have adequate training and mentoring to ensure that these businesses can reach poor rural areas with lighting and livelihoods from clean energy. Through this grant, Fraxen Consulting will facilitate and coordinate the projects in Tanzania that are helping to build a stronger environment for such micro-, small, and medium enterprises to thrive.
