About this grant
The Inter-American Foundation, an independent United States government agency created by Congress in 1969 to channel development assistance directly to the organized poor in Latin America and the Caribbean. The project goal of Building Broader Communities in the Americas is to foster partnerships between community foundations in Latin America and the Caribbean and their counterparts in the United States and Canada, using interested stakeholders, such as immigrant groups, as channels of interconnectivity. This grant increase will provide resources for an additional community mapping exercise and a peer learning event on community mapping, a forum in the fall to discuss key topics and decide upon subsequent peer learning events, the selection of a topic for further research on transnationalism and community philanthropy, the formulation of a strengthened organizational structure for the Building Broader Communities in the Americas initiative, and the development of online and printed communications products.
