About this grant
Access to modern electricity services has not reached 40 percent of rural Peruvian people, many of whom live in the Peruvian Amazon. The Pontifical Catholic University of Peru’s Institute of Science of Nature, Territory, and Renewable Energies is an institute for research, academic training, and promotion of strategies for ecological, biodiversity, territorial conservation, and renewable energy expertise. Over the course of this project, the grantee will work with isolated communities in the Peruvian Amazon state of Loreto to diagnose energy needs; propose renewable energy solutions; and implement a pilot renewable energy project that can be replicated for isolated Amazon communities.
