Freshwater Lab Internship Program

About this grant

The University of Illinois at Chicago serves an urban population in the largest city of the Great Lakes region. The university’s Freshwater Lab works closely with agencies and community-based groups, including Mott Foundation grantees. With prior support from the Mott Foundation, the grantee designed a new internship program. The program will place students from the grantee’s diverse student population with Mott grantees, and other organizations primarily in the greater Chicago area. The internship program will span an academic semester and a summer session, thus giving students classroom training to build leadership and understanding of Great Lakes issues prior to practical training, and networking with professionals.
