About this grant

The project goal is to investigate how digital public policy impacts civil society and how to strengthen and expand connections between civil society support organizations and digital policy experts. To this end, researchers at Stanford University, led by Dr. Lucy Bernholz, will conduct a series of interviews, review relevant literature and activities, convene interested parties, host a live virtual roundtable, and expand their nonresident fellowship program. The initial focus of this work is on the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and continental Europe. Dr. Bernholz and her team are based at the Digital Civil Society Lab at Stanford University’s Stanford Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society. The lab aims to understand how digital technology has transformed civil society and to shape these transformations to support a thriving and independent civil society in the digital age.
