About this grant
The program goal is to support active and organized civil society participation in efforts to increase access to justice globally. The Transparency, Accountability, and Participation Network, a project of the Proteus Fund, will mobilize its membership of over 270 civil society organizations for coordinated action around implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 16, with its focus on peaceful, just, and inclusive societies. During the grant period, activities will include: 1) supporting members to work with and hold governments accountable to Goal 16; 2) promoting civil society engagement in formal mechanisms of implementation and review; and 3) and helping empower civil society through regional and national-level coordination and collaboration leading up to and including the “High-level Political Forums,” which are the formal mechanisms through which United Nations member states report on, review, and adjust commitments under the goals. Founded in 1994, the Proteus Fund convenes and facilitates donor collaboratives that strategically focus philanthropic resources toward the realization of a just, equitable, and democratic world.
