About this grant

This grant supports the Council on Foundations’ Global Philanthropy Program, which is framed around four pillars of activity: 1) strengthening cross-border grantmaking; 2) advocating for a global enabling environment; 3) facilitating global convenings and conversations; and 4) developing global resources and thought leadership. Activities over the past two years included publications and a blog series on responding globally to COVID-19, webinars on various global topics of interest to its members, convening funders around India’s new restrictions on foreign funding, disaster response pages regarding humanitarian crises in Haiti and Afghanistan, updating members on regulatory changes that affect giving to organizations in selected countries, and updates to Country Notes web pages for Mexico, Brazil, Canada, Australia, Czech Republic and Tanzania. During the upcoming grant period, the grantee will continue to enhance and expand upon the four activity pillars. Founded in 1949, the Council on Foundations is a membership organization of private, community and corporate foundations, primarily in the U.S.
