About this grant
The program goal is to provide comprehensive support to internally displaced persons and others affected by war in Ukraine. Through a network of online and offline legal advice centers, Gorenie will provide primary and secondary legal assistance to displaced victims of war in four regions (Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhiye, Kharkov and Ukraine-controlled Donetsk) bordering on the war zone that has received the bulk of such migrants. The grantee will provide training services for local officials to improve service delivery and integration practices related to target groups. The grantee will also work to build the self-organizing capacity of these target groups. From 2018-2020, the grantee provided primary and secondary legal assistance to over 50,000 Ukrainians directly impacted by war. Over 160,000 requests for legal and social benefit information were processed through Gorenie’s mobile legal assistance app. Based in Dnipro, Gorenie was founded in 2005 to provide wide-ranging assistance to disadvantaged and marginalized groups throughout Ukraine. This increase will allow Gorenie to update and improve legal and rights information for displaced persons, ensure security of staff, and open additional premises where people can find support and assistance under conditions of evacuation and martial law.
