About this grant
The program goal is to support organized civil society participation to increase access to justice globally. The Transparency, Accountability, and Participation Network, a project of the Proteus Fund, will mobilize its membership of over 270 civil society organizations for coordinated action around implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 16, with its focus on peaceful, just, and inclusive societies. During the grant period, work will focus on 1) localization and capacity-building for network partners, 2) monitoring and accountability to assess Goal 16 progress, 3) global advocacy around Goal 16, and 4) reform of the Sustainable Development Goal review process. In 2018-2019, the grantee produced the Accountability Handbook, which underpinned 13 national workshops to improve reviews of Goal 16 progress. It hosted a series of side-events at the United Nations High-level Political Forum, which raised the profile of civil society actors, and orchestrated the civil society statement delivered at the official forum review. Founded in 1994, the Proteus Fund convenes and facilitates donor collaboratives that strategically focus philanthropic resources toward the realization of a just, equitable, and democratic world.
