About this grant

The project goal is to increase the contribution of community foundations in Canada and globally to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. To this end, Community Foundations of Canada will create relevant learning content, build the capacity of Canadian community foundations to contribute to the United Nations goals, and share Canadian best practices globally. In addition, the grantee will leverage additional funds from public and private sources to increase the support available to community foundations for engaging with the United Nations goals. The grantee was established in 1992 as a network of 28 community foundations. Currently, the network includes 191 community foundations with $5.6 billion in combined assets. The grantee provides information, technical assistance, and networking opportunities to its members. Also, the grantee represents the Canadian community foundation field on the national and international levels and works across the civil society, business, and public sectors to boost efforts for building inclusive and sustainable communities.
