About this grant
The goal of East Africa Philanthropy Network is to promote the growth and development of philanthropy in East Africa by connecting various philanthropic organizations in the region and promoting an enabling environment for philanthropy. Established in 2003, the organization brings together foundations, trusts and other philanthropic organizations to build a community of practice, promote learning, and deepen their work in the region. To achieve this, the grantee hosts learning events, produces research and supports regional forums. Previous support from the Mott Foundation enabled the grantee to convene members to discuss topical issues and champion causes that strengthened the sector. During this grant period, the East Africa Philanthropy Network will continue to: 1) generate knowledge and promote learning; 2) support the members’ collaboration efforts; 3) lead initiatives that protect and strengthen civic space in the region; and 4) build the secretariat’s capacity to respond effectively to the growing needs of its members.
