About this grant
Michigan Environmental Council is a coalition of nearly 70 environmental and faith-based organizations. Created 40 years ago, the grantee is committed to fighting threats against Michigan’s water, air and land with a particular focus on the Great Lakes; inland waters and drinking water concerns; sustainable agriculture; clean energy; and environmental health. With this grant, the grantee will focus on public engagement, education, relationship building, communications and operational activities to strengthen Michigan’s environmental protections and improve the Great Lakes. The Michigan Environmental Council will seek to expand Michigan’s environmental movement to include new leaders that reflect the state’s racial diversity and to overcome disinvestment in water infrastructure to ensure safe, affordable drinking water.
