About this grant
The program goal is to support the field of community foundations in Mexico. Founded in 2011, Comunalia is an alliance of 17 Mexican community foundations focused on local development and strategic social investment. Over the past three years, Comunalia conducted a broad range of work to expand and strengthen Mexico’s community foundation field, including helping members adopt Vital Signs and Sustainable Development Goals, developing online knowledge resources and channeling financial resources to community foundations. In addition, Comunalia and its members have generously hosted community foundation stakeholders from other Latin American countries. Over the next three years, Comunalia will pursue the following objectives: 1) strengthen Mexican community foundations’ institutional capacities; 2) increase its own resources and foster new income streams for its members; 3) promote the creation of new Mexican community foundations; 4) raise the profile of community foundations in Mexico; and 5) strengthen Comunalia internally to increase its reach and impact.
