About this grant
Heart of the Lakes Center for Land Conservation Policy is Michigan’s only institution whose mission is to serve and support land conservancies in the Great Lakes state. With prior Mott support, the grantee helped its members protect a total of 672,967 acres of forests, coastlines and farmlands, while supporting and strengthening members and helping them raise the visibility of land trusts and their importance to Michigan’s conservation heritage. The grantee was instrumental in forming a multi-partner initiative to tell the story of protecting public lands and their value to the state. With renewed support, the grantee will continue and expand efforts to support and serve land trusts and will launch a new project to explore opportunities for conservation and redevelopment of urban lands.
