Building National Dialogues on Integrated Electricity Planning in East Africa

Since 1982, the World Resources Institute has been providing information, ideas and solutions to solve some of the world’s most intricate environmental challenges. Over the past grant period, the grantee has enhanced the quality of data and strengthened the capacity of various stakeholders using the Energy Access Explorer — an open-access online geospatial assessment tool — to support energy access planning and programs. The tool is used in five African countries and India. During the next grant period, the grantee will strengthen the functionality of the Energy Access Explorer by incorporating new datasets and expanding its application for the productive use of renewable energy services. The World Resources Institute will also strengthen the technical capacity and knowledge sharing among key users of the Energy Access Explorer tool across several countries.
