Promoting Environmental and Social Standards in the Financial Sector

About this grant

Urgewald is a German based organization that works to establish strong, binding environmental and social standards for international development finance institutions and to gain public support for responsible and accountable development financial institutions. To achieve these goals, the grantee undertakes research, education and advocacy efforts with a global network of local communities, nongovernmental organizations and other partners. Over the next grant period, the grantee will monitor implementation and review of the World Bank Group’s, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank’s and Asian Development Bank’s environmental and social policies, as well as trigger an international public debate through publications and media discourse about development finance institutions’ resettlement policies for human populations.
