About this grant
The project goal is to increase access to justice for poor and marginalized people in South Africa. To this end, the Centre for Community Justice and Development will work with its network of community advice offices in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa to provide justice services. Past support helped the grantee increase the number of advice offices with which it works. It also adjusted its work to be responsive to the COVID-19 pandemic by providing both humanitarian and justice relief to poor and marginalized people affected by the lockdown in South Africa. Continued support will allow the grantee to recruit and train community paralegals, assist advice offices with fundraising and financial reporting, conduct research, and help communities recover from the destruction caused by the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
