About this grant
Elevate Energy is a nonprofit organization based in Chicago that designs and implements water and energy programs to ensure access to clean and affordable water, heat and power. With prior Mott support, the grantee convened community groups and water professionals from across the Great Lakes to share research, lessons learned and advance solutions for water affordability. They developed a water utility pilot program and explored the feasibility of establishing a region-wide technical assistance program for utilities. With renewed support, the grantee will research mounting levels of water bill debt in the Great Lakes region, learn about and communicate the lived experience of having water bills that aren’t affordable and provide education and training to utilities and advocates on water affordability challenges and solutions.
