About this grant
The project goal is to increase access to justice for poor and marginalized people in Sierra Leone. To this end, the Legal Aid Board of Sierra Leone — established in 2015, by the country’s Legal Aid Act — will continue to provide justice services to people in remote rural locations that are hard to reach. The grantee will also continue with its outreach and training activities, including its support to community advice bureaus. Past support has helped the grantee to increase its footprint from 16 to 23 regional offices and reach 370,340 people with community outreach and legal services. The main purpose of the Legal Aid Board of Sierra Leone is to provide justice services to poor and marginalized people in Sierra Leone, who otherwise cannot afford legal services.
