About this grant
The program goal is to support organized civil society participation to increase access to justice globally. The Transparency, Accountability, and Participation Network, a project of the Proteus Fund, will mobilize its membership of over 270 civil society organizations for coordinated action around implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 16, with its focus on peaceful, just and inclusive societies. During the grant period, work will focus on: 1) strengthening civil society influence in accountability processes; 2) building civil society capacity to evaluate Goal 16 implementation; and 3) improving data collection and monitoring of national government commitments to Goal 16. In 2020-21, the grantee produced a series of critical resources for civil society actors working to support Goal 16. These equipped network members to better track mechanisms and measures in place which underpin Goal 16 implementation. The grantee also hosted a series of events linked to United Nations review meetings, bringing civil society perspectives to these discussions. Founded in 1994, the Proteus Fund convenes and facilitates donor collaboratives that strategically focus philanthropic resources toward the realization of a just, equitable and democratic world.
