About this grant

The project goal is to increase access to justice for poor and marginalized people in Malawi. To this end, the Centre for Human Rights Education Advice and Assistance will provide community justice services in Chikwawa and Mwanza districts of Malawi. The grantee will empower the users of both formal and informal systems to know and claim their rights and demand accountability from the justice system. It will also bridge the gap between the formal and informal justice systems. The grantee is an independent nonprofit trust that provides justice services and strategic litigation and undertakes advocacy in helping Malawians access justice.
