Developing Community Foundations in Peru

About this grant

The project goal is to develop community foundations in Peru. Over the past two years, Mosaico Laboratorio Creativo’s Comuna Nación program: 1) introduced the community foundation concept to 754 public, private and civic leaders; 2) helped three community foundations get legally constituted; and 3) supported initiative groups in eight more communities, five of which are in the process of becoming community foundations. Over the next two years, Comuna Nación will expand and consolidate the movement of community foundations in Peru, anticipating the formalization of at least seven more community foundations and the identification of at least three additional initiative groups. The grantee also will develop standards and minimum requirements for Peruvian community foundations and strengthen the capacity and sustainability of Comuna Nación. Established in 2017, Mosaico Laboratorio Creativo was created to strengthen initiatives and organizations working in the social, educational, cultural and artistic fields to motivate citizens in Peru to work collaboratively in favor of those most in need.
