About this grant
The program goal is to support research and public education to promote giving, volunteering and civic engagement in America. The Giving USA Foundation has established the Generosity Commission, a nonpartisan group that will bring together a breadth of stakeholders, voices and expertise to explore profound questions about the future of giving, volunteering and other forms of civic engagement in America. Over the past year, a working group has recruited high-profile members for the commission, funded research on giving and volunteering trends and raised over half of the $3 million total budget for the entire project. In the coming year, project activities will include additional research, a public launch of the commission, a survey and national conversation and the broad dissemination of public recommendations to increase generosity in America. Established in 1985 as the charitable arm of the Giving Institute, a trade association of fundraising consultants, the Giving USA Foundation publishes data and trends about charitable giving.
