About this grant
Midwest Environmental Advocates is the only nonprofit environmental law center in Wisconsin that directly provides legal and technical services to community members seeking to protect clean water. With previous Mott Foundation support, the grantee has provided legal and technical support to residents of Wisconsin on a range of issues, including addressing groundwater pollution and preventing harmful diversions of Great Lakes waters. During the same period, the grantee also strengthened its own capacity and strengthened ties to Native American tribes. With renewed support, the grantee will help communities address the most pressing threats to safe water in Wisconsin, especially nutrient pollution of surface and ground water, lead in drinking water and the regulation of PFAS (per- and polyflouroalkyl substances) — a ubiquitous class of toxic chemicals found in the environment.
