About this grant
This project will support the World Wildlife Fund and its partner, World Wildlife Fund Brazil, to continue working on a national program for solar energy for forest-dwelling communities living in sustainable development reserves in the Amazon. Over the prior grant period, the grantee contributed to the installation of 31 solar systems in three Amazonian extractive reserves and actively raised the visibility of pilot project results, broadening the discussion of solar energy among the public and private sectors. During this grant period, the grantee will continue to monitor outcomes of community managed solar energy pilots, promote solar photovoltaic value chains in Amazon municipalities and coordinate a network of nongovernmental organizations working on renewable electrification in the Brazilian Amazon.
