The BRICS Policy Center is a project of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro dedicated to studying the transformation in international development finance and its influence on social and environmental standards for energy development in South America and the Amazon. Over the past grant period, the think tank expanded its online databases that track Chinese investment in the region, researched the weakening of environmental governance in South America and organized knowledge exchanges. The Pontifical Catholic University Rio de Janeiro will continue over the next grant period to deepen monitoring and analysis of key financial institutions in the transition to a low-carbon energy future and the consequences for social and environmental governance.
